FIVESEED TOASTER

The original, and still the most popular, Fiveseed is coarsely ground, dense and full of flavour. Made with buckwheat, black sesame, white sesame, flax and sunflower seeds, with sea salt, water and a touch of turmeric being the only additional ingredients.

Fiveseed has a distinctive full-seed taste that marries well with avocado, strong cheese and other savoury toppings … That said, we've heard it described as “the perfect platform for marmalade”, so really, whatever floats your boat!

FLATWHITE TOASTER

Our simplest recipe, made from de-hulled buckwheat seeds, water, sea salt and…that’s it. Nothing else added at all. Finely ground, giving a lighter, smoother texture that is more like a traditional white bread.

The Flatwhite has a subtle, nutty flavour, and you can taste the umami tang of the fermentation. Makes any topping sing but it is a particularly good with layered combinations, such as hummus, cucumber and fresh coriander; slivers of cured meat, seasoned tomato and basil; or boiled egg, dill and mayo.

TEATIME TOASTER

The original Flatwhite recipe, made with dehulled buckwheat seeds and water, but here spiced up with cinnamon and ginger, and sweetened with unsulphured sun-dried raisins and natural stevia extract. A slice of toasted hot-cross bun, only much, much healthier.

The Teatime is delicious with nothing more than a spread of butter or nut butter... but if you want a real treat, top this with sliced banana or your favourite berries, sprinkle with toasted nuts and drizzle with honey for the final decadence! We also love it with a top-quality creamy goats cheese like Belnori’s St Francis of Ashisi, poached pears, preserved figs...

FLATWHITE SHELLS

For many the best part of a Hannam loaf is the chewy crispy crust, and here you get 12 per pack! The Shells are made with the Flatwhite recipe (ie nothing but dehulled buckwheat seeds, water and a touch of sea salt) but here hand-shaped into domed buns, and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Sliced through the middle, each half is slim enough to slip into a toaster. Delicious, nutritious and filling, this makes the most excellent open sandwich.

Each half Shell is slim enough to fit in a traditional toaster. It can also be placed on a griddle or braai grid but we recommend a toaster. Being quite dense in texture, the Shell is quite chewy if eaten as a traditional burger; we recommend rather eating it as an open sandwich.

PIZZA BASES

The same magic mixture with which the Flatwhite is made – dehulled buckwheat seeds, soaked and ground with water and a touch of sea salt, then fermented for 24 hours. The mixture is poured onto a turntable and individually hand shaped into a circular flatbread, then part-baked, cooled, and packaged.

Whether you top it like a traditional passata-based pizza, a delicious vegan topping of caramelised onions and thyme-fried mushrooms, or like your pizza without cheese (try this leek, fennel, salmon, avocado, fresh dill recipe), the Hannam flatbread pizza base is the most flavourful gluten-free option on the market. So easy too … Take it out the freezer and by the time you’ve prepared your toppings, it’s defrosted… Place in thoroughly heated oven and it’s ready to eat within 12 minutes.

A few tips:

1) Preheat the oven properly – it must be set on fan to max for 15 to 20 mins before you bake.
2) If you don't have an oven that gets hot enough (or just want to ensure a perfectly crispy base), prebake your base for 7 minutes at the max setting, then top and bake for another 3 to 5 minutes.
3) Place it on a rack (or proper pizza pan, or pizza rock), so the heat circulates underneath.
4) Check the pizza to make sure it's cooking evenly - you may need to turn it around. When the crust is golden-brown all round, it's ready!
